About me
I am a fourth year doctoral student of robotics in the Soft Machines Lab at Carnegie Mellon University. I’m interested in medical robotics, soft actuator control, manipulation, and brain computer interfaces. In particular, my research focuses on understanding and controlling frictional properties of soft materials to bring new capabilities to robots.
Previously I held the roles of senior research analyst and programmer in the Auton Lab at Carnegie Mellon University and software engineer at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. My work has touched a variety of domains including medical diagnostics, radionuclide detection, counter human trafficking, and guided munitions.
Education
Doctoral Student in Robotics (2020-2025)
Master of Science in Computer Engineering (2012)
Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (2009)
Personal life
When I’m not in the lab, I like to spend my time … in the lab, looking at robots with the kids:
When I’m neither working nor exploring in the lab, I enjoy cooking (when I have time). Especially pizza and Christmas cookies:
Before we had kids, my wife and I both traveled whenever we could. I will be elated when we can travel again, this time as a whole family!
